The GTA Place brings you the latest news, information, screenshots, downloads, forums and more. For Grand Theft Auto 3, a.k.a. Go ToShe sent him on a mission to get Claude away so she could help set up the ransom because she knew Miguel did not actually kill Kenji.Maria shot the player character ('Claude') at the end of the game. She was talking to distract him. He was shaking his head, facing away from her and she killed him. She stopped talking to pull the trigger. The whole game was an Evil Plan by Maria to get rid of all of her enemies.

* Impossible. The player is free to do as he/she pleases after the 'ending' cutscene.Similar to above, but Claude, after all he went through the game, shoots Maria to put an end to her. He shoots and kills her and moves on with his life with most of the gangs wanting him dead. Claude shot himself at the end of the gameYet again, similar to the above WMGs, Claude felt guilty about all of the murder he had committed at the end of the game and decided that he'd only let one more be added to his body count.

* Or because he couldn't stand being stuck with Maria and her endless droning but knew there was no other way to get rid of her, bar shooting her, but he couldn't bring himself to shoot a woman, a general principle he holds which he only made a single exception for in Catalina's case because...well, come on, that b*tch seriously asked for it!Advertisement:

* This is actually impossible, as the player is free to do as he/she pleases after the 'ending' cutscene. Claude shot Maria... but not just because she was talking too much...You know the last time we saw Maria? Y'know, before she was 'kidnapped' by Catalina? She was torturing Miguel, the Colombian mob boss, with Asuka, the Yakuza mob boss, to get dirt on Catalina's SPANK operation. After this appearance, Maria kills both Miguel and Asuka, and 'kidnaps' Maria. Seems like convenient timing? Nope, Maria was The Mole all along, and was helping Catalina to wipe out her remaining criminal competition in Liberty City. Either that, or she took Salvatore Leone's position in Catalina's drug tradeafter Claude capped him. Either way, the 'kidnapping' was all staged to lure Claude into a trap. Maria kept up the ruse after Claude blew Catalina out of the sky to save temporarily save her hide, but Claude, even being ambiguously Dumb Muscle for any mob boss that asked him to do a favor, was smart enough to put two and two together, and made sure Maria was Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves. Claude doesn't speak because he's french and doesn't speak english.Colombian Gang Car Gta 3 LocationClaude isn't mute. When he's injured he grunts and groans in pain. He is capable of producing sound, but he never speaks. At the same time, he sports a distinctly French name and his origins are never explored. It could be that he's a frenchman who just doesn't speak English (but understands it) and thus doesn't talk to other chracters because he doesn't know how to, since they all speak English

* Unlikely. Not being fluent in the dominant language is not a reason for remaining completely silent, and remember, he never says anything to himself, in French or otherwise. It could be that he has some kind of expressive aphasia, though; he might simply not be able to produce speech, because of a brain damage. Another possibility is selective mutism or some other social disorder (he does look pretty awkward in a few social interactions, as when he was on the receiving end of a hug in San Andreas).Advertisement: The gunshot at the end of the game was a surviving Colombian gang member:Claude spotted a Colombian member who survived the incident and finished him off Maria stopped talking because the gunshot startled her :]]Anyone?

* He fled town with the Old Oriental Gentleman during the mission 'Decoy'. Claude doesn't know this, which is why he turns up at the Love Media Building for 'Love's Disappearance'. The real antagonists of GTA 3 are not Salvatore, Miguel and Catalina.First of all, Salvatore Leone is portrayed as the Disc-One Final Boss of GTA 3, but he's hardly a tertiary antagonist. As in, he doesn't antagonise the player during the first part of the game. The player spends the entire first chapter working for his organization and hierarchy, and by all account each high ranking member of the Leone family (Salvatore included) openly comment on how useful and reliable Claude is. The turning point was a combination of Salvatore's paranoia, and uneasy marriage with Maria due to her cheating. In which he acted on irrational emotion towards what he viewed as a betrayal against him IN THE VERY FINAL MISSION of the first island. If it hadn't been for Maria opening her mouth and flat out lying about her and Claude, nothing would have happened. In fact, the mafia aren't even hostile to Claude until he kills Salvatore at the start of the second island, which storyline wise lasts one mission after then you never hear of them again. It would make more sense for the antagonist to be an enemy of the Leone family Claude was working for, like one of the Forelli brothers, or one of the Triad warlords.

Then there's Miguel, who only seems to be deemed an antagonist due to him co-leading the Columbian Cartel. Presumably being in the cartel that's hostile to Claude from the very start, due to Catalina's betrayal of him, he would know about Claude and likely supports Catalina's hostility to him as well as the rest of his gang in some way. But HE DOESN'T ANTAGONISE CLAUDE. If anything, he seems pretty terrified of him when they (presumably) first meet, and it becomes clear that he's just another victim of Catalina's manipulation. If being The Dragon to the actual main antagonist is enough to automatically warrant the status of secondary antagonist, then why isn't the Forelli Capo the secondary antagonist of Vice City? Why isn't Molly Schultz the secondary antagonist of GTAV? Cases like Ryder and Eddie Pulaski in San Andreas are different, in the sense that they do actual serve a role that antagonises the player. But Miguel is pretty, well, pathetic. What they could have done instead, is have Miguel be a far more aggressive character, both in the game and Claude's backstory, and make him serve as the tertiary antagonist that dies in Bomb Da Base.Advertisement:

Catalina of course is antagonistic to the bone, but I'd pin her as the secondary antagonist rather than the first, largely because she doesn't really do a good enough job at causing the player shit throughout the entire game. That title instead goes to  Maria. After all,  She IS the reason Salvatore betrayed you AND the reason you get exiled from Portland. And, probably, why the Leone had search parties on Staunton temporarily looking for you. It's likely Claude only rescued Maria in the last mission because he wanted the honour and privilege of killing her himself. Plus, given the fact that she was willing to turn on the mafia, it's entirely probable she'd turn on the Yakuza and Claude too, and there's always the possibility that Catalina AND Maria were the ones who made a deal and faked the whole kidnapping. Claude is not only Claude Speed......but he's also one of the playable characters in GTA 1. This would make him the Player Character of the first three original GTAs, thus making it his own trilogy. That, and GTA1's three available maps include both Liberty City, and San Andreas, both of which he's been in before. Lord only knows what he's doing in the HD era... Maria planned to get you killed, but had second thoughts.Maria didn't like Claude at first. She lied to Salvatore about them being a couple, hoping he'll kill Claude. Suddenly she felt guilty, and decided to warn you about the bomb in the car.IndexGANGColombian CartelGames:GTA IIIGTA AdvanceGTA Liberty City StoriesLocations:Fort Staunton, Staunton IslandCedar Grove, Shoreside ValeFrancis International AirportCochrane DamColombiaLeaders:Cisco (in 2000)Catalina and Miguel (in 2001)Type:Drug cartelEnemies:Yakuza, Leone Family, ClaudeAffiliations:YardiesPortland TriadsPurple NinesKing CourtneyDonald LoveAvery CarringtonCurly BobColors:Blue/Brown; Red/BlueVehicles:Cartel Cruiser, PatriotWeapons:PistolMicro UziMicro SMGMP5K (Love on the Run mission only)AK-47M16 (missions only)Pump Action Shotgun (missions only)Molotov Cocktail (Arms Shortage mission only)Rocket Launcher (S.A.M. mission only)Flamethrower (The Exchange mission only)Businesses:Drugs tradeRobberySmugglingFronts:Freight businessButchers shopAirline companyPanlantic Construction CompanyKappa Coffee HouseMembers:CatalinaCiscoMiguelClaude (Left the gang)Colombian Gang Car Gta 3 Fort Staunton

The Colombian Cartel (aka the 'Cartel' in Grand Theft Auto Advance) is a prominent South American-based drug cartel in Liberty City and the main group of antagonists in Grand Theft Auto III.

The Colombian Cartel is exceptionally well armed, and are led by Catalina and Miguel to produce and supply the drug SPANK in Liberty City. It is suggested by Liberty City police records that the Colombian Cartel may be using the local airport and a harbor freight as a front to smuggle the SPANK drug into Liberty City, although they have yet to thoroughly prove this. In Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Rise FM DJ Boy Sanchez mentions having tried a new drug on the street called 'SPANK'. This means that SPANK was at least in production in 1998. Miguel was leading this cartel during this period as well; Catalina did not join the organization until 2001, when she shot her boyfriend Claude and took off with the money the pair had just robbed from a bank. There are hints during various cutscenes in GTA III that she and Miguel are lovers and she has used the money from the robbery to heighten her standing in the Cartel. After Claude's feud with the Triads ceases, he faces the Colombian Cartel as a new and worse enemy for the rest of the game.

Miguel is later linked to the assassination of Yakuza leader Kenji Kasen, although he actually had nothing to do with it (real estate mogul Donald Love ordered Claude to make it look like the Cartel's doing to spark a gang war and drive real estate prices down). He is later tied up in the incomplete skyscraper in Fort Staunton by Kenji's sister Asuka and tortured non-stop, although Asuka later grows tired of torturing Miguel, as seen in S.A.M.. She, however, continues to torture him until he is killed by Catalina, when they kidnap Maria and kill Asuka. Catalina assumes command of the Cartel herself. After killing Asuka and trying to escape in a helicopter, her vehicle is shot down by Claude as revenge for shooting him during the bank robbery.

It is clear that the Cartel is linked to the Panlantic Construction Company, a company serving as both a legitimate construction company and a front for illegal operations. In GTA Liberty City Stories, Cartel members were hired by Panlantic as bodyguards for Avery Carrington, who was working for Panlantic and arrived in Liberty City to acquire real estate for development. After Avery was killed by Toni Cipriani, Donald Love took over negotiations with Panlantic to seal the deal on developing Fort Staunton, which would be later destroyed by bombs planted by Cipriani. In GTA III, the construction site in Fort Staunton serves as the Cartel's turf in Staunton Island until it is seized by the Yakuza, erupting into an endless gang war.

With Catalina's death it is certain the gang lost a lot of influence in the city as it would be taken over by a less competent member.

Cartel members wear Hawaiian shirts, combat pants, hats resembling Akubras and boots in GTA III. In GTA Liberty City Stories, the same members wear red or blue shirts with brown vests, pairs of pants and jewelry. Their favorite radio stations in GTA III are Flashback FM and Rise FM.GTA Advance

In Grand Theft Auto Advance, the gang was initially allied to Advance protagonist Mike, but would later turn against him after suspecting Mike of killing then Cartel leader, Cisco (which is revealed to have been the work of Vinnie). He was succeeded by an unnamed general, who was succeeded by Miguel. At one point in GTA Advance, Cisco centered his gang operations at Francis International Airport.Trivia

*The Colombian Cartel may be based on the real-life Cali Cartel, a prominent Colombia-based cocaine-smuggling gang known to have been active in New York City.
